Christ was treated as we deserve, that we might be treated as He deserves.
He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share,
that we might be justified by His righteousness, in which we had no share.
He suffered the death which was ours, that we might recieve the life which was His.
'With His stripes we are healed'.

Jesus reveals God's love

Jesus Reveals God's Love

God's love impelled him to take action to help his creatures gone astray so when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman (Gal 4:4) Jesus is the Son of God, the Second Person of the Trinity, who was sent for love of mankind:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.... The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world knew him not. He came to his own home, and his own people received him not. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father. (Jn 1:1-5,9-14)

In the last three years of his life, Jesus taught the truth behind the Jewish law (cf. Mt 5:17): the fullness of the truth about man and his place in creation. The morality of Christ is not a set of arbitrary laws designed to keep people from enjoying life. Quite the contrary. Jesus' teachings reveal who man is, and by accepting the truth about oneself, one becomes truly free. This is why Jesus himself proclaimed, ``You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.'' (Jn 8:32)

Jesus' teachings unleash life from endless pursuit of self, the cycle of violence of the law of vengeance (`An eye for an eye...') and the exacting observances of Jewish ritual. Christ's shows the purpose of the Jewish law to be service to the truth about man and his life. Jesus thus channels life back to its true and original direction: love of God and love of neighbor. That is why St. Paul says that he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law (Rom 13:8)

It is a great tragedy that many non-Christians see slavery, not freedom in the truth of Christ. Perhaps they see Christ presented as an angry, exacting judge and condemner of sinners. The contrary is true, for God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him (Jn 3:17, cf. Jn 12:47). Jesus associated himself with sinners despite the reproach of the `good people' of the time (cf. Mt 9:10-13, 11:19, 21:31; Mk 2:15-17; Lk 5:30, 7:34). Among the most moving words of Jesus is the parable of the prodigal son, which portrays God as a loving father welcoming home the wayward son who squandered his share of the family fortune (cf. Lk 15). So while it is true that those who remain in their sin until death will suffer eternally after, Jesus extends his hand to help those who are in sin to repent. Jesus condemned sin, not the sinner. His call is an invitation to reconciliation and to God's love.

Jesus himself became a perfect sign of God's overwhelming mercy by taking on the punishment due to man because of sin and he became the perfect example of his own teaching of the truth about man by embracing the wood of the cross. He emptied himself, becoming weak, taking the form of a slave--abandoning for a little while his radiant, overwhelming majesty-- to win us (individually and collectively), to woo us, to take us to himself and become one with us, to abandon his life for us and to hand over his life to us.

Everything designed has a Designer

We Can Believe in God

Jim once asked an atheist if he had ever wrestled, even for a few moments, with the thought that maybe God does exist.

"Absolutely!" the atheist said, to Jim's surprise. "Years ago when our first child was born I almost became a believer in God."

"As I looked down at that miniature-but-perfect little human being in the crib, as I watched the flexing of those tiny fingers and saw the dawning of recognition in those little eyes, I went through a period of several months during which I almost ceased to be an atheist. Looking at that child almost convinced me there had to be a God."

1. Everything Designed has a Designer

The design of the human body demands the existence of a designer.

Have you ever pondered all that's involved in the simple act of seeing? Scientists tell us that the delicate engineering of the eye's cornea and lens make the most advanced camera seem like a child's toy by comparison. The tiny rods and cones in the eye change light into electro-chemical impulses through processes the most sophisticated laboratory can't reproduce. And brain cells transform these electrical impulses into the miracle of perception--something no high-tech computer can come close to doing.

Engineering, chemistry, information processing--all are involved every time we open our eyes. Charles Darwin once stated that the thought of the eye, and how it could possibly be produced by natural selection, made him ill. Here's why.

The human eye could not have evolved over long periods of time, because it is absolutely useless unless complete. The lens, which focuses light, would be useless without the retina, which senses light. And all the light received would serve no purpose without the nerve fibers which carry signals to the brain.

Vision involves a complete system of organs--all interrelated, all thoroughly designed. That's the way it is with the whole human body. Lungs and heart, nerves and muscles, all perform incredibly complicated tasks that depend on other incredibly complicated tasks.

No wonder the Psalmist concluded that the human body speaks loud and clear of a wonderful Creator:

  • "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."-- Psalm 139:14 .  the New International Version of the Bible [NIV].)

We don't have to go far to find the "works" of God. The evidence right in our own bodies points to an infinitely skillful designer.

If you were to mark ten coins from one to ten, place them in your pocket, shake them around, and then pull each coin out and put it back in your pocket, what is the likelihood you could do so in exact numerical sequence? By mathematical law you have only one chance in ten billion of taking them out in order from one to ten.

Now consider the chances of a stomach, brain, heart, lungs, arteries, veins, kidneys, ears, eyes, and teeth all developing together and beginning to function at the same moment in time.

What is the most reasonable explanation for the design of the human body?

  • "Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, in our likeness,' . . . SO GOD CREATED MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."--Genesis 1:26, 27.

The first man and woman could not just have happened. The Bible affirms that God designed us in His image. He is the great Engineering Intelligence who thought us up and brought us into being.

Why are we so hard on ourselves?

I few weeks ago a fellow brother in Christ shared his thoughts with us. All us christians know how important it is to pray. Everyting can be done in prayer. God wants nothing more than for you to cast your cares on Him, so that He can take them away. But then why do we so often come up to Him, show Him all our cares and problems, and instead of leaving them there at His feet, we take them right back with us. We are then not only making it hard on ourselves, but also on Him. He can't take away our cares if we want to keep them with us.

If we truly want God to take care of us, then we must let Him, totally. It is easier said than done, but it's the only way. Let Him take over! Do not doubt

James 1:5, 6
If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking. 6 But when you ask for something, you must have faith and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like an ocean wave tossed around in a storm.

Matthew 21:21,22
But Jesus said to them, “If you have faith and don't doubt, I promise that you can do what I did to this tree. And you will be able to do even more. You can tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it will. 22 If you have faith when you pray, you will be given. whatever you ask for.”

He really works miracles

Last week I heard a story that I really must share with you. If you have seen all my blogs, then you will also have seen my last entry, the death of a really dear friend, and fellow sister in Christ. She, I can say, is a truly special person who touched a lot of lives.

Let me start at the beginning. Joyce, that's her name, was a 25 year old who had been struggling with a very serious disease for more than two years now. Last year she was hospitalized for over 4 months, and almost died. But God gave her the strenght to heal, slow but steady. She was having a hard time with pains, medicines and the disease restraining her to live her life, but I never heard her complain at all. Instead, she was growing closer and closer to God. In church she gave us several testimonies and always asked questions that made us think deeper about God and His intentions.

But three weeks ago, the disease starting taking over again, and once again she was hospitalized. Only this time, she grew weak much faster. In spite of that, she managed to keep giving a testimony of God's love. A girl, whom she was in the same room with, was in search of God. And after hearing Joyce's testimony about the goodness and the unconditional love the Lord has to give, the girl decided to give her life to God. After a week she was struck by two hemorrhages in the brain, and went into a deep coma. The doctors told her husband it would be a matter of minutes before she died. But God proved them wrong and worked a miracle.....

The next day, He brought her out of the deep coma, and as she was gaining consciousness, she sang two songs praising the Lord. Even in her last minutes she was full of His love, and eager to express it. The doctors and other caretakers were all there in the room to witness it. They were stunned and had absolutely no explanation. One last time she was able to give a testimony, by showing a true miracle of God. For the last time she was able to tell her husband how much she loved him, and he was able to do the same. After that she slipped back into her coma, and three days later she gave her last breath...

Her family and friends read this psalm to her right before God performed His miracle:

Psalm 121:

1 I look to the hills!
Where will I find help?
2 It will come from the Lord,
who created the heavens
and the earth.

3 The Lord is your protector,
and he won't go to sleep
or let you stumble.
4 The protector of Israel
doesn't doze
or ever get drowsy.

5 The Lord is your protector,
there at your right side
to shade you from the sun.
6 You won't be harmed
by the sun during the day
or by the moon at night

7 The Lord will protect you
and keep you safe
from all dangers.
8 The Lord will protect you
now and always
wherever you go.

Rest in peace, dear Joyce

On the day of the 20th of may our dear friend Joyce gave her last breath. She was a loved, cherished and special person to many of us, and we are going to miss her deeply. But we have the consoling knowledge that it doesn't end here, and that soon we shall meet again in a much better place, close to our Father.

Rest in peace dear Joyce

Oh, how good it is....

Oh, how good and how peaceful it is to be silent about others,

not to believe without discrimination all that is said,

not easily to report it further,

to reveal oneself to few, always to seek You as the discerner of hearts,

and not to be blown away by every wind of words,

but to wish that all things, within and beyond us,

be done according to the pleasure of Thy will.

Yo so tu amigo

DIOS, NO PUEDE SER DIFICIL

DECIRLE A ALGUIEN UN TE QUIERO,

DARLE A MI AMIGO UN CONSEJO,

O AL DOLIDO TU CONSUELO.

YO TE PIDO MI SEÑOR,

QUE MI CORAZON SIEMPRE ESTE LLENO,

DE PAZ Y DE ALEGRIA, DE PALABRA SABIA Y DIGNA,

PARA AQUEL QUE ESTA MUY LEJOS.

¿ COMO PUEDE SER POSIBLE ?

QUE LA GENTE DE HOY EN DIA,

NO TENGAN GOZO NI ARMONIA,

SINO SOLO SU ALMA HERIDA.

YA COMPRENDO MI SEÑOR,

ES QUE TE HAN HECHADO A UN LADO,

SIN VER QUE TUS MANOS LES HAS BRINDADO,

PARA AYUDAR AL NECESITADO.

POR ESTE MEDIO TE PIDO

QUE A MI HERMANO, MI AMIGO,

MI VECINO O AL MENDIGO,

LE MUESTRES TU AMOR BENDITO Y

LE EXPRESES:

YO SOY TU AMIGO.

Jewels from Heaven

Jewels from Heaven

I took a walk down a woodland trail,
without really expecting anything new.
A rustling in the leaves made me pause,
and wonder what was hidden from view.
I kneeled down and spotted a tiny, white flower,
so perfectly formed to bloom for just an hour.
Thank you, Lord, for showing it to me alone,
such a secret I would never have known.

God sends jewels from heaven,
when I stop long enough to see.
Rare and precious treasures,
to show how much He loves me.
Once, I ran to the edge of some trees,
with a heavy burden in my heart.
The scent of a warm, summer rain,
wafted by on a gentle breeze.
A brilliant, red cardinal came to call,
and sang a cheerful song just for me;
and to think, I could have missed it all.

God send jewels from heaven,
when I stop long enough to see.
Rare and precious treasures,
to show how much He loves me.

I stepped outside late one night,
for just a moment of peace and quiet.
The wind softly whispered to me.
The black, velvet sky held a crescent moon,
and a million silver stars gave their light.
I threw up my hands and praised you, Lord,
for this glimpse of beauty I might have ignored.

God send jewels from heaven,
when I stop long enough to see.
Rare and precious treasures,
to show how much He loves me.

For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 2 Corinthians 2:15.

Be gentle!!!

Let your gentleness be evident to all.

What an important text is this. We live in a cruel world, were many people hurt each other, they forget to love, they forget what love is..... And because we live in this harsh world, it is sometimes hard to show our loving and gentle side, often to protect ourselves from getting hurt. But who can hurt us if we have our Lord God, so close to us, taking care of us day after day??!! Let us trust His on that fact, that gentleness, His love for us, will help us get through everyday of our lives here on this earth. And if He can show His gentle side everyday, so must we.

LET YOUR GENTLENESS BE EVIDENT TO ALL!!

Bestaat God??

Een man ging naar de kapper om zijn haar en baard bij
te laten knippen. Ze begonnen te discussiëren en
spraken over vele zaken.
Al gauw kwamen ze bij de bekende vraag of God wel
bestaat.
De kapper zei: "Kijk, ik geloof niet dat God bestaat."
"Waarom zeg je zoiets ?" - Vroeg de man.
"Nou, iemand hoeft alleen maar naar de wereld te
kijken en hij zal zien dat God niet bestaat. Als God
echt bestaat, zouden daar dan zoveel zieke mensen
zijn? Zouden daar zoveel gehandicapte kinderen zijn?
Nee, Als Hij echt bestond, zou er geen ellende zijn op
de aarde. Ik kan me niet voorstellen dat een God dit
allemaal kan toestaan."
De man was even stil maar zei verder niets.
De kapper was inmiddels klaar en de man verliet de
zaak.
komen. "
"Exact!" - ging de man verder. "Dat is het hem nou
juist. God bestaat ook zeer zeker wel. Het zijn juist
de mensen die niet naar hem gaan en Hem niet opzoeken
en daarom is er zoveel ellende op de wereld.

we're not our own

Just think for a minute, how the lawsystem works. All kinds of rules for everything. Rules for what you can and can't do, but also laws that can make people rule over others, or even can make people 'owners' over somebody else. I don't mean than in the sense of slavery, but in the sense of guardians, or parents. They make the decisions for the children and are in charge of what happens in the life of these children. Many of them think: this is my child, so I have the to act as I wish. But luckily the lawsystem prevents that from going too far, by setting rules.
I think there is something really important that we should keep in mind. Children are not ours, we are not our parents'. Children are a gift from God, the Almighty One who rules over us, living and dead. We have been given to our parents, and every parent has the privilege to take care of a child until they are capable to take care of themselves. But in the end, God is the One who rules over us, Who owns us. Therefore we should not live our lives to ourselves, but unto the Lord. As should parents, bringing up their children.
Knowing that we live unto Him, we can be sure that we shall never be apart from our loved ones, living or dead, because in Him we as close as can be. It's an unbreakable connection.

Romans 14:7-9
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

Share what you have been given

Child of my kingdom,
There is someone very near you today who needs to know what you know. Someone who needs a word of comfort or compassion or encouragement.
When you were low, did someone lift you? When you were lost, did someone help you find the way? I have allowed these difficult times in your life so that you could experience my mercy. And now someone else is going through a difficult time. Will you be the one to bring my mercy, to share my comfort and guidance and encouragement? Will you spread the light of my truth as one small candle spreads its light to another?
In this world, you are either part of the problem or part of the solution, part of the darkness or part of the light. When you were engulfed in problems, someone answered your questions with my healing and life-changing truth. Now it is time for you to share what you have been given with someone in need. Will you reach out to that someone today...for me?

Share the love,
God

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is the Father who is full of mercy and all comfort. he comforts us every time we have trouble, so when others have trouble, we can comfort them with the same comfort God gives us. We share in the many sufferings of Christ. In the same way, much comfort comes to us through Christ."

think about it

Christ's sacrifice:

Romans 5:1-8

1 Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; 2 through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering works perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope: 5 and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6 For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a righteous person someone would even dare to die. 8 But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
